Sugar Skulls + Cupcakes

I have a serious love for cupcakes (gluten free, of course), and for Halloween. What better way to combine the two than with Sugar Skull Cupcake Toppers. I am a huge baby when it comes to scary things (think zombies, blood, monsters, bugs…yuck!) and prefer the cutesy, more fun Halloween elements (dressing up, candy, fun decorations.) Thats why I designed these colorful sugar skulls. They are festive, fun, happy and free to download below!

They are super easy and quick to make (the skulls, that is. The cupcakes make take you a bit longer). Simply cut the skulls out around the light dotted line and fasten a toothpick to the back. Voila! Cupcake toppers.

I chose black and white cupcake tins to compliment the pastel orange frosting and colorful shapes of the skulls.

To get the pastel orange frosting, we added tiny amounts of red and yellow until we found the shade we liked.

Enjoy these cupcake toppers and have a wonderful Halloween!

Special thanks to my roommate for her baking and frosting assistance!

Rock n’ Roll Ride

Recently, I was getting a lot of requests in my Spinning® classes to play some rock n’ roll classics. I compiled a list of suggestions for which songs to include and the playlist below is the result. I created a class that was entirely throwback and it went really well. People of all ages really liked the class!

Happy Fall

Hello Fall
Yesterday marked the first day of fall, which also is the beginning of the holiday season [and my favorite time of year]. First Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas/Hanukkah and then, BAM, 2014. Although LA doesn’t have much of a change to the weather or colors, I have great memories of fall in Seattle. I did a little browsing on tumblr/pinterest/flickr for some pretty fall images and the gorgeous colors that come with it.

Font Friday Adec
Adec has three typeface options, as shown above. It looks like a great display typeface, or would work nicely on a poster or banner. Enjoy this typeface, and show me your creations with it!

Vintage Road Maps

I’ve been feeling inspired by my upcoming trip, and decided to take a mental break on flickr. Check out these vintage/retro road maps, a lot of which were put out by gas stations. Enjoy!
